As a student in the psychology major in the School of Behavioral and Community Health, you’ll explore the amazing world of the brain, emotions, thought, and behavior. Dive into scientific insights into the human mind through not only textbook learning and lectures, but also hands-on experiential learning and practice in real-world applications. The program offers various opportunities through internships, research support, community service partnerships, and collaborative projects with fellow students. BA in Counseling Psychology

Learn an overview of the clinical language, concepts, and methodologies of the counseling discipline in which you’ll be prepared to pursue advanced studies in social work, school psychology, student affairs, and related fields.

Learn the basic methods of inquiry and dive into the social, cognitive, developmental, and clinical areas of psychology. You’ll have the option to choose the areas you’d like to pursue and expand into related fields with a minor or second major.

The minor in psychology consists of six course units: PSYC 120, PSYC 211, PSYC 212, and three additional courses that must include at least two 300-level courses. (A student can declare a minor in psychology at any time. Please note that a student must earn a grade of C or higher in PSYC 211.)

Our collective goal is to deliver innovative instruction through in-person teaching to engage you with course material and allow for the discussion and debate of issues face-to-face, fostering personal and collaborative relationships between faculty and our students. Get ready to be inspired about the complexities and intricacies of the human psyche!

At times, faculty members in the department may include hybrid components in their in-person classes. Most departmental courses in the Winter Term, May Term, and Summer Sessions I and II are likely to be online.
